"You must feel the force around you. Here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere- yes."
- Yoda

Habit Hack Episode 21.

When I was a kid, I had a bowl cut. Like a legit, full-on, bowl over head with scissors to create the thing. I think as it was growing out, I discovered Star Wars.

My cousin Alexis had a mullet. A legit mullet to one-up my legit bowl. She was my idol. She was the coolest cousin ever. She played basketball and wore sweatbands and rode a BMX bike with pegs. And...she loved Star Wars. One year for halloween, she was a storm trooper and I was a hula girl. She was way cooler.

I somehow collected every action figure, from Luke to Jabba the hut, to little Ewoks; and still have vivid memory of my dad putting together the Jedi House, an elevated treehouse, complete with a "speeder bike" swing. 35 years later, that Jedi House still stands in River Vale, NJ.

My draw to Star Wars in the 80's was directly influenced by my cousin Lexy, and The Force has always conjured up images of Skywalker and Yoda and Lightsabers. But now I recognize the concept of The Force as a connecting and powerful Love.

Obi-Wan tells young Luke, “Well, the Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.”

To me, Love is the force- a force that connects. Love is not sentimental, but powerful. In the toughest of times, we come together in a magnetism that can only be described as a force of Love. The Force. Love. It is here.

No matter what comes together or is pulled apart, Love is here. In the greatest moments of success or the darkest hours of uncertainty, Love is here. In tragedy or triumphharmony or frustrationinspiration or inconvenience, Love is here. Whether you feel alone or fiercely connected, Love is here. Despite any thoughts, regardless of any choice, and however you feel, Love is here. Through any pain or loss or joy, Love is here.

In the fluid reality in which we are floating, Love is what forms cohesion and solidarity.

In our world that is full of heartbreak, we keep choosing to embrace Love as the fabric.

In our separate homes, in our inner turmoil, in our weakest states, Love is the hinge that continues to swing open with acceptance.

Love is a Force.

So, to the Star Wars- obsessed Jessie and Lexy of the 80's- you had some roots being laid down with The Force- strength and the tenacity of Love.

May the Force, and the Love, be with you.

Do it all with Love. Nothing is promised. But everything is workable.
